What Tidal Flooding?

Wednesday morning's high tide on W12th Road!

The bay end of W12th Road was cleared of significant construction debris and rip rap and leveled out by the contractors last month just after the mid August moon tides.

I was comparing the run ups of the moon tides this week to those of mid-August last month and have come to the conclusion, admittedly based on anecdotal evidence (tidal heights, wind speed and direction, ocean swells, off shore systems, etc.), that the tidal street flooding accompanying the moon tides this month have been made considerably more substantial than those last month because of the reconfiguration of the bay end of the street which now offers even less protection against tidal run up than before.

Keeping  in mind the old adage "It's gonna get worse before it gets better",and the fact that the reconfiguration of the end of the block to prepare for the installation of a new bulkhead was necessary, we are still left wondering - when is the actual bulkhead construction going to start?

This morning I spoke with Ms. Fern Weinreich, the project's Community Construction Liaison (CCL) who stated that in addition to the ongoing end of street prep work, the designed installation of a bulkhead anchor required additional discussion with property owners at the end of the block prior to commencement of bulkhead work.

Ms. Weinreich stated she will get back to me this afternoon, hopefully, with some definitive project schedule information.  Additionally, Ms. Weinreich stated she will soon be disseminating a weekly "Project Look Ahead Advisory" each week on Friday to advise residents of  the following week's planned work schedule.

We will keep you advised.  In the interim, back to fishing!
