The updated NHC forecast is near the upper-end of the guidance and calls for rapidstrengthening over the next 24 hours, and brings Michael to major hurricane status. After intensification, perhaps due to a slight increase in southwesterly shear.Weakening is expected after landfall, but the forecast track keeps a portionof the circulation over water along the southeast U.S. coast, so Michael ispredicted to remain a tropical storm through 72 hours. The system should becomea powerful extratropical low off the U.S. Mid-Atlantic coast in about 4 days.
Tucked away on the west side of the small town of Broad Channel in the middle of Jamiaca Bay is a narrow, dead end, street that goes by the name of West 12th Road. Those of us who live there know that the nice part about living in a small town is that when you are not quite sure what is going on, someone else always does! [Peter J.
