Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service New York NY 558 PM EDT Fri Sep 14 2018 NYZ075-080-081-178-179-152200- Kings (Brooklyn)-Southwestern Suffolk-Southeastern Suffolk- Southern Queens-Southern Nassau- 558 PM EDT Fri Sep 14 2018 There is potential for heavy rainfall and breezy conditions Monday Night through Tuesday Night as the remnants of Tropical Storm Florence move through the Northeast. There is still quite a bit of uncertainty on the track of this remnant low, but a swath of 2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts is possible in its track. Due to recent rain events, grounds are saturated and river and streams flows are running well above normal. If the heavy rain swath ends up over the local region, there will be potential for urban and poor drainage flooding as well as flooding along quick responding small rivers, streams, and creeks. There is a high risk of rip currents on Saturday, and possibly on Sunday.
Tucked away on the west side of the small town of Broad Channel in the middle of Jamiaca Bay is a narrow, dead end, street that goes by the name of West 12th Road. Those of us who live there know that the nice part about living in a small town is that when you are not quite sure what is going on, someone else always does! [Peter J. Mahon West 12th Road, Broad Channel]
