Storm's Status: Tropical Storm "Gonzalo" has recently formed in the Atlantic approximately 200 miles east of the Leeward Islands. The storm is expected to track W for the next 24 hours with some strengthening followed by a turn to the WNW. Gonzalo is still some 1000+ miles SE of our area here in Broad Channel so we will have to wait and see how the storm strengthens and ultimately tracks to ascertain if this sytem will pose a threat to our coastal area but long range computer models tend to indicate Gonzalo will be pushed away from the North American coast.
