Distance from Broad Channel: SE 1696 miles
Storm's Status: "Gonzalo" has recently strengthened into a Cat. 1 Hurricane just S of St. Martin. The storm is expected to strengthen whicle tracking NW through Wednesday at which time it is expected to start tracking N and then NE back out into open seas.
Gonzalo is still some 1000+ miles SE of our area here in Broad Channel so we
will have to wait and see how the storm strengthens and ultimately tracks to ascertain if this sytem will pose a threat to our coastal area but long range computer models continue to indicate Gonzalo will track away from the North American coast.
