...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM TO 10 PM EDT 
THIS EVENING... 
 
* LOCATIONS...ALONG THE SOUTH SHORE BAYS OF BROOKLYN...QUEENS AND 
SOUTHERN NASSAU COUNTY. 
 
* TIDAL DEPARTURES...1/2 TO 1 FOOT ABOVE ASTRONOMICAL TIDES. 
 
* TIMING...THIS EVENING...MAINLY AROUND THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE. 
 
* IMPACTS...FLOODING OF THE MOST VULNERABLE SHORE ROADS AND/OR 
BASEMENTS. THE MAJORITY OF ROADS WILL REMAIN PASSABLE WITH 
ONLY ISOLATED CLOSURES. 
 
* OUTLOOK...MORE WIDESPREAD MINOR COASTAL FLOODING IS LIKELY WITH 
THE TUESDAY MORNING AND NIGHT HIGH TIDE CYCLES...ESPECIALLY 
TUESDAY NIGHT IN COMBINATION WITH ON GOING HEAVY RAINFALL. THE 
POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR LOCALIZED MODERATE THRESHOLDS TO BE MET 
DURING THE NIGHT HIGH TIDE CYCLES AS WELL.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH 
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON... 
 
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A 
 
* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL OF SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT...NORTHEAST 
NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEAST NEW YORK... 
 
* FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. 
 
* AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER THE OHIO VALLEY MOVES INTO THE 
GREAT LAKES TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY...AN ONSHORE FLOW OF DEEP 
TROPICAL MOISTURE WILL DEVELOP...AND SHOWERS WILL GRADUALLY 
SPREAD EASTWARD INTO THE REGION FROM TUESDAY INTO TUESDAY 
EVENING. THIS MOISTURE WILL BE WRUNG OUT BY AN UPSLOPE FLOW OVER 
INTERIOR SECTIONS...AND ALSO BY A SECONDARY LOW DEVELOPING NEAR 
THE AREA LATE TUESDAY NIGHT...AND THEN MOVING SLOWLY ACROSS 
DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY. 
 
* SHOWERS WILL LIKELY BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES FROM LATE TUESDAY 
NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING OR EARLY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. 
RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR ARE LIKELY DURING THE 
PERIODS OF HEAVIEST RAIN...AND WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 
TO 3 INCHES AND LOCALLY OVER 4 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE. 
 
* RAINFALL OF THIS INTENSITY AND MAGNITUDE COULD CAUSE SIGNIFICANT 
URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING...THAT COULD IMPACT THE 
WEDNESDAY MORNING RUSH. FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS IS ALSO 
POSSIBLE. THE HEAVY RAIN COULD ALSO COMBINE WITH HIGH WATER 
LEVELS ALONG THE COAST TO EXACERBATE FLOODING PROBLEMS IN LOW 
LYING COASTAL SECTIONS.
Instructions:A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
