Breaking: Seastreak Ferry Runs Aground in Jamaica Bay

FDNY rescues passengers; no injuries

FDNY responders evacuated 29 passengers from a passenger ferry which ran aground in Jamaica Bay on Wednesday afternoon.
According to an FDNY spokesperson, a call for help came in at 12:33 p.m. All the passengers were evacuated safely and with no injuries.
Passengers were taken to a warf west of the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge in Broad Channel, Queens, according to FDNY.
A spokesperson for the Seastreak ferry company had no information about the incident.
On January 9, 2013, another Seastreak ferry, the Seastreak Wall Street, on a trip from New Jersey to Pier 11/Wall Street, struck a pier as it approached the dock. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), four of the 331 people on board the vessel sustained serious injuries during that incident.
