Dozens of partygoers, who stayed well into the night, enjoyed drinks, food, music and good company.
The American Legion also rang in the New Year in grand style, hosting a December 31st party at the Hall complete with live music by Wax R Back, a hot buffet, wine, beer and a champagne toast at midnight.
All proceeds from both events will go towards furthering the Legion’s veterans’ programs.
Broad Channel resident Stephanie Wagner is also helping to keep the holidays bright in the island community with festive lights stretched all across Cross Bay Boulevard.
Wagner, founder of Broad Channel Hurricane Sandy Relief, is looking to raise $10,500 to cover the costs of procuring, setting up and maintaining the lights, which have gotten positive reaction from residents and visitors alike.
Donations can be made online atwww.wepay.com/donations/bc.christmaslights or by mail to S. Wagner 79 West 18th Road, Broad Channel NY 11693.
Any monies raised above the needed amount for this year will be put toward next year’s lights.
Wagner hopes to make this an annual tradition.
