The congregation of Christ Presbyterian Church by the Sea hosted a lively and well attended retirement party for Reverend Andrea Zarou on Sunday November 17th.
Held at Roma View catering hall in Howard Beach, the brunch honored Zarou’s 25 year service to the Broad Channel community as pastor of the church.
The original date for the celebration was set for November of last year, however Hurricane Sandy intervened.
As one attendee remarked, “Hurricane Sandy could only slow this down; it couldn’t stop it.”
Reverend Zarou was honored with several heartfelt speeches and gifts. Among those were a hand designed collaborative book of memories and a painting done by a local artist of the church as it looked before the storm.
A special detail in the foreground is the announcement board which shows the times of services and lists Rev. Andrea Zarou as pastor.
Among the guests were Reverend Megan Manas, who currently ministers to the congregation, and Father Richard Ahlmeyer and Father
Charles White of St. Virgilius in Broad Channel.
