SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY 115 PM EST Mon Jan 8 2018 ...A LIGHT WINTRY MIX FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING... A wintry mix of mainly snow and sleet will move across the region from west to east late this afternoon and impact the evening commute. Any snow and ice accumulation will be very minimal, but ground temperatures remain quite cold from the recent Arctic outbreak. This will result in difficult travel conditions with respect to any precipitation that falls. It will only take just a little bit of freezing rain to cause treacherous travel conditions. Therefore, stay tuned to NOAA All Hazards radio, and local media outlets for updates in case a Winter Weather Advisory is issued.
Tucked away on the west side of the small town of Broad Channel in the middle of Jamiaca Bay is a narrow, dead end, street that goes by the name of West 12th Road. Those of us who live there know that the nice part about living in a small town is that when you are not quite sure what is going on, someone else always does! [Peter J.
