American Legion Post 1404 and Veterans of Foreign Prince-Wynn Post 260 each hosted their annual children’s Christmas parties on Sunday, Dec. 13.
Each featured cupcakes and festive snacks, music, decorations and activities for the kids. Jason the Magician had the little ones squealing with delight with his show at the Legion, which included a snake, birds and eager young volunteers.
The high point of each gathering was a visit from old St. Nick himself as excited children eagerly awaited his appearance at the Legion and VFW.
The jolly man and his many helpers gave out wrapped presents which the kids happily tore into.
Each year Broad Channel’s veterans groups raise money for these special parties for children from newborn on up. Both parents and children seemed to thoroughly enjoy each gathering.
When asked how the man in red could be at both celebrations at the same time, one man explained, “Hey, he’s Santa Claus! And it’s Christmas.”
