Last Saturday, Sept. 26, a group of 200 people enjoyed a three-hour sunset cruise around Jamaica Bay aboard the Golden Sunshine from Sheepshead Bay.
The outing was organized and hosted by the American Littoral Society.

Narrated by the Society’s Mickey Cohen and Don Riepe, the group learned about the history, ecology, wildlife and issues facing management of the bay’s resources. Along the way they saw a bald eagle soaring overhead and a peregrine falcon roosting beneath the Cross Bay Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.
On the way back to port the group was treated to a nice sunset replete with “sun dogs,” patches of rainbow on both sides of the setting sun.
