Vendors spread their wares across VFW Post 260’s large backyard, which also offers a wide view of Jamaica Bay. A barbecue grill also did a brisk business in hamburgers and hot dogs.
Sellers, who were offering everything from toys and games, clothing, golf clubs and handmade items like baskets, purses and hammocks, noted the weekend flea market had gone well.
All proceeds went to VFW programs that support veterans.
On Oct. 10, the VFW will host a Chili Cook-Off and Music Festival from noon to 10 p.m. The event, which will feature 10 bands and chili competitors, will be in support of the New York Families with Autistic Children Foundation.
For official rules and to register for the chili contest, go to www.nyfacfoundation.org
The VFW is looking forward to a large turnout for this event.
VFW Post 260 is located at 705 Shad Creek Road in Broad Channel.
