Dear Friends,
The Committee, Rockaway United to Save Our Ferry are planning two press conferences.
The first press conference will take place at the steps of City Hall on Wednesday, June 11, at 3 p.m.
The second press conference is scheduled to take place on June 18th, at the Rockaway Landing ferry terminal on Beach 108th Street and Beach Channel Drive, at 6 p.m. Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and other elected officials will be joining us there.
We need everyone to come out and tell your friends and family to attend these rallies and most of all tell everyone to take this beautiful and amazing ferry ride to Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Make every effort to encourage your family, friends, neighbors, and fellow commuters to ride our ferry and enjoy the attractions of our city. Have a party or a meeting on our ferry. Take a ferry schedule and give it to a friend. We need to increase ridership.
To current ferry riders, thank you for taking our ferry everyday. Please make every effort to continue taking the ferry and encourage your friends and neighbors to take our ferry too.
Please invite other ferry commuters to carpool to our ferry. Many ferry commuters pay extra to get to the ferry causing added expenses. This added expense maybe the difference between taking the ferry or not taking the ferry. Please consider carpooling to our ferry and make a friend. Please read below.

Laura Deckelman 9:53am Jun 10 Attention Everyone!!
We are distributing the following to the local business and restaurant owners in the Rockaways, asking them to work with our group, "Rockaway United to Save Our Ferry," to obtain permanent ferry service for the Rockaway Peninsula and Brooklyn. Once again, we are racing against the clock. Mayor de Blasio has to include the Rockaway/Brooklyn Army Terminal ferry's operating costs in the annual city fiscal budget for 2014-5, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of June, or we will lose ferry service in October.

Dear Rockaway Business Owner:
We represent the group, “Rockaway United to Save Our Ferry.”
As you may have heard, there is an intense effort currently underway to save the Rockaway/Brooklyn Army Terminal ferry service that connects Rockaway and Brooklyn with Manhattan every weekday. New York city officials are now looking over the ridership numbers, calculating the costs, and receiving input from our local elected officials, civic leaders, organizations, and community residents on the need to preserve this vital transportation link by providing adequate funding to keep the service going.
We would like to enlist your participation in this important effort, especially as the continuation of ferry service would mean an increase – particularly during the current late spring, summer, and early fall months – in the number of visitors to our Peninsula from Manhattan and other parts of the city.
Here is what you can do:
1) Display the Seastreak Rockaway/BAT ferry schedules in your business so that customers can pick up the schedule and hopefully ride on the ferry, thereby adding to the ridership numbers.
2) Attend our upcoming ferry press conferences and stand united with our community to show elected city officials that we are serious and determined to keep our ferry service on a permanent basis. Time is running out for our ferry, which is presently slated to end in October if Mayor de Blasio does not include ferry operating costs in this upcoming year’s fiscal budget, to be finalized at the end of this month (June 2014). If we don’t support our ferry, we could watch her sail away in October.
We are planning two press conferences.
The first press conference will take place at the steps of City Hall onWednesday, June 11, at 3 p.m.
The second press conference is scheduled to take place on June 18th, at the Rockaway Landing ferry terminal on Beach 108th Street and Beach Channel Drive, at 6 p.m. Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and other elected officials will be joining us there.
We ask that you make signs and bring them along. Here are some suggestions for sign slogans:
Mayor de Blasio: Please include PERMANENT FERRY SERVICE for Rockaway in the new budget!
Ferry On Forever, Rockaway & Brooklyn!
Permanent ferry service for the Rockaways and Brooklyn!
Anything less is unacceptable!!
Respectfully yours,
Rockaway United to Save Our Ferry
