Assemblyman Goldfeder Makes ‘Build it Back’ Accessible ; Announces Office Hours for Build It Back Case Manager

Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder (D- Rockaway Beach) has opened his doors for residents affected by Sandy to directly receive assistance with a case manager from the Build It Back Program to discuss application status or any other concerns or issues.

“There is a lot of confusion surrounding the Build It Back program,” said Assemblyman Goldfeder. “I am proud to announce that residents can now stop by my office and speak directly with a representative from Build It Back.
I commend Amy Peterson and the city housing recovery team for their dedicated service and working tirelessly to fix a broken system.”

Build It Back will provide a case manager in Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder’s Offices, beginning Thursday, June 5th, from 1-4 pm,  alternating Thursday’s between his two office’s located at 2-14 Beach 96th Street in Rockaway Beach and 108-14 Cross Bay Blvd. in Ozone Park. This is a free

service available to anyone. Residents can call Assemblyman Goldfeder’s Office at 718-945-9550 to schedule an appointment or walk-in.

"The changes we are implementing at Build It Back focus on engaging the community and getting homeowners the support they need to get back into their homes. Thank you to Assemblyman Goldfeder for helping us connect directly with Queens residents,” said‎ Amy Peterson, the Director of the Housing Recovery Office.

This announcement follows a number of improvements to Build It Back made by the de Blasio Administration, aimed at cutting red tape, streamlining the process, and providing direct relief to homeowners. Among a number of changes, Build It Back is increasing staff capacity to better serve
applicants and expedite the process – including by adding Borough Directors and other local staff, as well as placing senior staff directly in Build It Back centers. Build It Back also launched a web portal to
allow residents to track their statuses.

As a result, there's been a dramatic increase in the number of residents moving through the pipeline;
the Mayor ‎has committed to at least 500 reimbursement checks and 500 construction starts by Labor Day of this year.

"My district has seen nearly seven thousand households apply for the Build it Back program—this accounts for over forty percent of the program’s total number of applicants’ city-wide,” concluded Goldfeder. “I will
continue to work until every family receives the assistance they so desperately need and deserve to get back in their home and fully recover.
