Dear Neighbor,

The current blood supply in New York City has fallen dangerously low. Due to the recent winter storms and freezing temperatures, hundreds of blood drives have been canceled. I strongly urge you to join me and help our city by donating today.

The West Hamilton Beach Fire Department located at 102-33 Davenport Court in Hamilton Beach will be holding their blood drive on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 between 9 AM and 3 PM at the firehouse.

Every registered donor will be entered into a raffle to win a pair of Yankees tickets. Also, keep an eye out for my upcoming annual health fair where you will have the opportunity to donate as well.

Repair Our Streets and Sidewalks
17 Months after Sandy, dozens of beach blocks still remain damaged and a serious safety hazard for our families in Rockaway. I recently sent a letter to Queens Borough Commissioner of Transportation, Dalila Hall and Department of Design and Construction Acting Commissioner, David Resnick urging them to repair the sidewalk and streets along beach blocks from Beach 108th Street to Beach 144th Street in Rockaway. I strongly urge the appropriate agencies to work together and take the necessary corrective actions to rebuild our community and make our streets safe again.
Congratulations to the SS. Cosma and Damiano Society!
Last week, I joined Councilman Eric Ulrich and hundreds of families to honor Frank Pantina of Cross Bay Chemist for his excellent service at the 22nd Annual SS. Cosma and Damiano Gala Dinner Dance in Howard Beach!
Congratulations to the society on another successful year of charity and giving!
Dangerous Eyesore Cleaned Up in Howard Beach
A few weeks ago, I urged the National Parks Service (NPS) to take immediate action and remove the damaged and collapsed fence along the northeast side of the Joseph P. Addabbo Memorial Bridge on Cross Bay Blvd. in Howard Beach. I am proud to announce, the NPS responded promptly and  removed the dangerous eyesore from our neighborhood. I commend the NPS for their quick action and we will continue to work together until the fence is restored.
