Stay Strong,

U.S. Senate Passes Flood Insurance Relief Bill!
Earlier this week, I joined with Senator Chuck Schumer and local community leaders from Hamilton Beach, Broad Channel and Rockaway to call on the U.S Senate to pass the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act. I am proud to announce the U.S. Senate has passed the bill! The new law will put an end to skyrocketing flood insurance rates that we faced due to the Biggert-Waters flood insurance legislation. I commend Senator Schumer for taking the necessary steps to ensure stability and affordability of our community and making this important legislation law.

Eliminate Neighborhood Eyesore
The level of deterioration and unsightly conditions at the foot of the Addabbo Bridge in Howard Beach is unacceptable. I sent a letter to National Parks Commissioner, Josh Laird requesting him to take immediate action and repair the damaged and collapsed fence along the northeast side of the bridge. A small effort on behalf of NPS will go a very long way in making Howard Beach an even more attractive and safer place for our children and families to live.
 Happy St. Patrick's Day!
In preparation for this year's St. Patrick's Day, I celebrated the Irish tradition at the Annual St.Camillus-St.Virgilius Parish St.Patrick's Dance filled with corned beef and musical performances from local bagpipers!
