Possible Significant Weekend Nor'Easter....

We still have to deal with the additional snow we will be receiving tonight and the accompanying wintry mix of sleet and ice and ultimately rain tomorrow morning but there is yet another winter storm system brewing out west that could reach us this weekend and be the most significant of the storms that we have seen thus far this season.

The computer models are not in agreement regarding the size and intensity of this system at this time but it still bears careful watching.

One computer model indicates this weekend system may develop into a blizzard as it nears the Atlantic Ocean delivering snowfall rates of several inches per hour and also strong winds. If this happens, we be be discussing snowfall amounts in feet and not inches.  The strong onshore winds could cause coastal flooding and beach erosion but, thankfully, we will be between the "new" and "full" moon phases with tidal heights of less than 5 feet over the weekend.

Another computer model indicates this system will only moderately intensify with much weaker winds and a period of moderate to heavy snow for our area not unlike our recent snow storms.

As we draw closer to the weekend the computer models should start to come into agreement and we will be better able to predict a forecasted strength for this approaching system.

In any event, we will keep you updated as this new system starts to come together.
