Potential Winter Storm this Weekend

The jet stream will dip south later this week and will cause a low to form off the coast which will intensify and move up the coast.

Depending on how far south the jet stream dips and how quickly it moves east will determine where the low forms. (The further south it forms the longer it will have to intensify as it moves up the coast.)

The extent of the colder air being drawn along by the southerly jet stream will then determine how the rain/snow line sets up along the coast which, in turn, will determine if our area here in Broad Channel will see a snow event or a wintry mix of snow and rain.

Right now it appears the timing of this possible storm for our area will be Friday night into Saturday morning.

As soon as the computer models start to come into some sort of agreement on this weather event, we will update you.
