Community grants are now available to resident-led groups. The Citizens Committee for New York City is offering money through its neighborhood grants program.
Community groups, public school-based groups and NYCHA tenants associations that are working to improve the quality of life across the city are eligible for a grant of up to $3,000 through the program. Applications are now being accepted and the deadline is January 27, 2014.
“This grant is the perfect opportunity to help our communities still recovering after Super Storm Sandy,” Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder said. “Additional funding for community based projects will not only improve our quality of life, but could also offer valuable assistance for our local organizations.”
The Citizens Committee for New York City grant program has already helped groups that focus on community gardening, theater and fine arts, nutrition awareness, composting, tenant organizing, physical fitness, public safety and more.
“I urge all eligible applicants to take advantage of this grant program,” said Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder..., “In the aftermath of Sandy we know that every dollar is important to get us back on our feet.”
