Over the past several weeks the number of hits on this site has increased dramatically. Just these past three weeks we have averaged close to 3,800 visits each week. It's not the Drudge Report or Amazon.com but for a small town block association web based community news site we are being read by a great many people.
Many of these visits now originate out of the New York City area - Nassau County, Suffolk County, New Jersey, Florida, Delaware, Connecticut, Georgia, Virginia, etc.
Anytime we publish a post of particular significance that posting is linked to several Facebook pages, including the Broad Channel Civic Association Facebook page, and is also emailed via a mailing list which now exceed some 120 addresses. We also "Tweet" the post!
Our postings are also regularly forwarded to the offices of our local elected representatives (Queens Borough President Marshall, Assemblyman Goldfeder, Councilman Ulrich,, Democratic District Leader Lew Simon, etc.) The staff at Community Board 14 are also copied with all postings.
Additionally, this week we have started forwarding all postings to both Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and State Senator Joe Addabbo.
Postings are also regularly forwarded to news staff at the N.Y. Daily News, the N.Y. Post and NY1.
More importantly we always forward all posting to our local newspapers (The WAVE,
The Queens Forum, Queens Chronicle and the Queens Courier).
We have also been told that many readers also forward emails received from this site to a separate email listing of their friends and relatives.

Many times we are sitting around preparing these postings and wondering to ourselves "Is anyone really reading these things?"
