6.79 FOOT HIGH TIDE AT 8:16 A.M.ON SUNDAY...
The National Weather Service in New York NY has issued a Coastal
Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 6 AM to 10 AM EDT Sunday.
* LOCATIONS...Kings (Brooklyn), Southern Queens and Southern
Nassau.
* TIMING...From 6 AM to 10 AM EDT Sunday.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...There is a low threat of property
damage. Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable
locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect around 1 to
2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable
areas. Some roads and low lying properties including parking
lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near
the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.
* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 3 to 5 ft along with the
elevated water levels could result in moderate beach erosion and
flooding around the times of high tide, with some flooding of
roadways and vulnerable structures behind protective dunes.
* OUTLOOK...Additional minor coastal flooding is possible over
multiple high tide cycles Monday and Tuesday.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
