...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH
SUNDAY MORNING...

The National Weather Service in New York NY has issued a Coastal
Flood Watch, which is in effect from late Saturday night through
Sunday morning.

* LOCATIONS...Vulnerable coastal areas along the Great South Bay
  and Jamaica Bay.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...Around 2 ft, locally 3 ft, above astronomical
  tides.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Potential for widespread flooding of
vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. Potential
for 2 to 2 1/2 feet of inundation above ground level in low
lying, vulnerable areas. This will result in numerous road
closures and cause widespread flooding of low lying property
including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with
basements near the waterfront. Vehicles parked in vulnerable
areas near the waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding
will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers
  and bays.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves will result in beach erosion
and flooding, with only minor damage possible to dune
  structures.

* TIMING...Moderate coastal flooding possible during the times of
  high tide Sunday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be
alert for later statements or warnings, and take action to
protect property.
