Here Comes Winter!

The Winter Solstice, marking the start of our astronomical winter season, will occur tomorrow, Thursday morning at 11:28 a.m, as the arc of our sun's travel across our sky stops moving southward.

Because the sun's arc of travel will be as far south as it can get in the sky, Thursday will be our shortest day of the year and noontime shadows will be the longest of the entire year. The first day of Winter will also bring our longest night of the year.

Starting Friday, December 22nd, the sun's arc of travel will begin to reverse it track in the sky and start to move northward once again and our days will start to become longer and our nights shorter.
