Dear Neighbor,

On behalf of my wife, Esther, and our entire family, I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of congratulations on the birth of our son, Gabriel.

I am truly humbled by all the kind words we've received these past few weeks. It's your support and encouragement that gives me the strength to work towards a better future for all our families.

Giving Families a Voice at Aqueduct
Recently joined my colleagues in proposing a plan to restructure the New York Racing Association (NYRA) and give our local community more say in how Aqueduct Racetrack is run. In a letter to the Governor, I proposed creating a new 15-member Board of Directors with 2 permanent members from Ozone Park, as well as a Community Advisory Board to regularly meet with NYRA and ensure this historic facility grows and succeeds together with our community.
VIDEO: Protecting Our Children
I was appalled to learn that a foster care agency accused of multiple cases of sexual abuse was selected by the city to open a home in Far Rockaway. In response, I wrote to Mayor de Blasio urging a halt to the plan and to criticize the city for keeping the community in the dark. I'm pleased to report the city has now agreed to cancel the proposal, but we still need to be vigilant in protecting our most vulnerable children and ensuring the best for our community and families.

Welcoming Our New Leaders in Blue
Every day, the men and women of the NYPD put their lives on the line to keep us safe. Their work is made possible by the great Commanding Officers who run our local precincts and lead by their example. It was a pleasure to meet with our two newest COs, Capt. James Fey of the 106th and Capt. Janice Holmes of the 100th, to welcome them to the community and discuss ways to protect our families. Stay Safe!
