Fifty-nine youngsters signed up for the two events. Thirty-one kids, aged 11 and younger, came out for the scavenger hunt. Twenty-eight contestants, between the ages of 12 and 16, formed up in teams of two for the race.
The Amazing Race took them all over island in a contest that included everything from running an obstacle course to correctly identifying 15 states on a map and putting Broad Channel events in chronological order.
The Children’s Scavenger Hunt participants kicked off their shoes and raced around the field searching for a variety of cleverly hidden items, such as a paper clip, a green crayon, a blue rubber band and a plastic spoon.
