Every August, communities in Queens and across the city and country celebrate National Night Out Against Crime (NNO). This event brings families together with the local NYPD precincts and the police officers that dedicate their lives to keeping us safe. It is also a great opportunity to spend a fun-filled night with friends and neighbors. This year, there will be rides, games, food, and, if you happen to be in Rockaway Beach at
5 p.m., the chance to test your pitching arm and send a certain New York State Assembly Member into the dunk tank!
Our local Precinct Community Councils deserve huge credit for making National Night Out a success year after year. We're fortunate to have dedicated local civic organizations like the Councils that work tirelessly with the NYPD to foster police-community partnerships and spread important information to keep our families safe.
It was unfortunate that the Department of Education
chose to prevent the 100th Precinct Community Council from holding their NNO event at the old Beach Channel HS. Thankfully, NNO is bigger than any one city agency and can't be stopped by red tape and poor bureaucratic decisions.
This Tuesday, August 4th, come out and celebrate National Night Out Against Crime! Please see below for details.
