Jamaica Bay starts to ice over....

JFK recorded gusty winds and an overnight low of 9 degrees (F) with a wind chill of -15 degrees but by 10 am this morning the winds had started to diminish, the temperature had risen to 13 degrees and the entire surface of the bay was covered with a thin coating of ice.

The National Weather Service Regional Weather Summary for our area indicates.....

A DRY DAY IS FORECAST AS SUNSHINE MIXES WITH A FEW CLOUDS.
THE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE MOVES WELL TO THE SOUTH AND EAST TONIGHT.
SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL KEEP TEMPERATURES FROM DROPPING TOO MUCH
FROM EVENING READINGS.

LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM THE
20S NEAR THE COAST TO AROUND 10 WELL INLAND. CLOUDS INCREASE AHEAD
OF A COLD FRONT. THE WINDS BECOME QUITE GUSTY AFTER MIDNIGHT
TONIGHT...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE COAST.
SNOW SHOWERS WILL ACCOMPANY THE COLD FRONT IS IT MOVES ACROSS THE
AREA LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. A FEW LOCATIONS COULD SEE
A COATING TO AS MUCH AS TWO INCHES. THE HIGHER SNOW AMOUNTS WOULD
SUNSHINE RETURNS FRIDAY AFTERNOON BEHIND THE COLD FRONT AS
LIKELY OCCUR ACROSS SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT AND INTO NEW ENGLAND.
TEMPERATURES REMAIN QUITE CHILLY.
