Mark Healey named EditorThe Wave welcomes Mark Healey to the editor’s chair.

Healey, who will oversee the editorial operations, has worked in all forms of media; print, online, magazine and broadcast.

He began his journalism career in 1996, working as a news producer and reporter for WSTC-AM’s Fairfield County News Radio network in Stamford, Conn., then as the Evening News director and anchor for WRKL-AM’s 910 Rockland County News Radio network in Pomono, N.Y.

Healey has also worked at the Associated Press (1998-2006), and served as the online editor at Baseball Digest (2009-2012).

Most recently, he hosted a national radio program on SiriusXM (2010-2014), and remains a regular contributor to the network.

Healey is the founder and executive editor of Gotham Baseball, a multi-platform publication whose print run is on display at the National Baseball Hall of Fame library at Cooperstown, N.Y.

A lifelong New Yorker and a graduate of Queens College, Healey is no stranger to the Rockaways.

“I was born and raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn, but spent many of my summers in Breezy Point,” said Healey. “After my family moved to Flushing, some of the other families in our neighborhood moved toRockaway Beach, so those great summers continued.”

Healey says readers can expect a continued commitment to the kinds of stories that not only educate and inform, but engage the reader.

“Kevin Boyle did an incredible job here, as many of The Wave’s readership have already let me know,” Healey said. “It’s my job to keep the great tradition of our commitment to the community going.”

Healey is also determined to enhance The Wave’s social media platforms. Starting with Twitter (twitter.com/TheWaveNews), a new Facebook page (facebook.com/TheWaveNews), and even newer Pinterest page (pinterest.com/The- WaveNews).

“Social media is a very powerful tool, but it also makes media more accessible to everyone.” Healey said. “The more interactive we can make The Wave, the better.”
