Jamaica Bay Earth Day Beach Cleanup

Last month, volunteers from Broad Channel to Bed-Stuy joined Boy Scouts and West Point cadets in supporting the Jamaica Bay Ecowatchers and the American Littoral Society in an Earth Day coastal cleanup. The annual event is an important contribution to an ecosystem fraught with challenges like litter and illegal dumping. The volunteers donated their time on Saturday, April 26th to help ready Jamaica Bay beaches for the annual influx of horseshoe crabs.
The American Littoral Society will once again team up with the Jamaica Bay Ecowatchers for a day of community-led salt marsh replanting on Sunday, June 1st. Advanced registration for volunteers is required. More information is available at littoralsociety.org.
