On Saturday, May 10, the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department will be opening its doors on Noel Road for an open house. (Rain date, May 17). From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. the BC Vollies will have various stations set up that the public can visit to learn how the department works, how they can help and how to better protect their families in the event of a fire or emergency.
There will also be free blood pressure checks and a fire engine station for the kids (and adults) to try on gear and use the hose.
The BCVFD, which has served the Broad Channel community for over 100 years, is also engaged in its annual fund drive. Donations keep the volunteer unit functioning and their equipment in good working order.
This year a portion of the proceeds will be going to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Race for the Cure. Please make your donation today.
Residents and non-residents alike are encouraged to donate. Donations can be made at the firehouse or online at www.broad channelvfd.org.
The Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department’s current firehouse is located at 15 Noel Road in Broad Channel, just off Cross Bay Boulevard.
