As the sky cleared from rain to sunshine, dozens of residents in Broad Channel came out to beautify the neighborhood.
Bringing gloves, rakes and shovels they set to sprucing up the Cross Bay Boulevard median strip on Saturday, May 10, as part of the neighborhood’s Annual Spring Planting event.
The Broad Channel Civic Association’s Beautification Committee organized the outing at which tree pits were cleaned, soil was spread and new flowers were planted. Green and white balloons also added a festive spring touch. The Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department later watered all the new plantings.
Growing year by year, organizers noted that the flowers planted last year were still going strong and complemented the new additions.
