225,000 Visitors and Counting!
MARCH 2014
MARCH 2014
This weekend someone will be visitor # 225,000 to the the West 12th Road Block Association News site.
Yeah...I know in the grand scheme of things 225,000 visitors over an almost four year period is not exactly up there with the Drudge Report, a site which counts its daily number of page views in the millions or even our local newspaper, the WAVE, which has the advantage of publishing the apparently wildly popular Irish Comics and Movie Scope as well as an editor versed in the science of sabermetrics, we still feel it is a milestone worth celebrating.
The West 12th Road Block Association was born in March, 2010 when a number of West 12th Residents finally decided that after years of the city and our elected officials paying only lip service to our complaints of serious long term tidal street flooding finally decided to take matters into their own hands.
Among many other actions undertaken, this site was also started to monitor and maintain a history of our progress in addressing the tidal flooding on our street which will finally start being realized later this spring.
Back on June 12th of 2010 we published our first and typo ridden post, "The short history of the West 12th Road Block Association" and, with the exception of a 4 week period after Super Storm Sandy, we have been posting continually ever since.
The site has changed a lot since our early days back in 2010 but our vision has not.

Our block association has flourished and retains an active role in maintaining the great community spirit and involvement that has been evident as a result of our involvement with this issue of tidal street flooding and other issues that affect the lives of us who live here between the bridges in Broad Channel.
More importantly, we absolutely believe the spirit of involvement by the residents of West 12th Road is not only good for our neighbors on the street but, hopefully, for the entire community of Broad Channel.
Yeah...we're not the Drudge Report, but all things considered, we are doing just fine thanks to all of you who take time out of your busy day to visit our site.
Thanks again!
