Storm Update: 11:30 pm 1/2/2014

Right now it is 20 degrees [F] with northeast winds at 18 mph gusting to 29 mph and a wind chill of 5 degrees [F].

Snow will continue to fall and accumulate through the overnight hours and should start to lighten up around 6:00 am and dissipate by 10:00 am.

Projected accumulation is about 6.2 inches.

The real problem will be the wind and temperatures tomorrow.

Friday afternoon will see temperatures of about 19 degrees [F] with  wind chills below zero.

Friday night's temperature will be in the single digits with wind chills of -10 degrees [F].

Street icing (especially on W12thRd) will be a major headache due to this evening's tidal street flooding and additional flooding Friday morning.

Keep a close eye on any uninsulated or exposed domestic water lines to avoid freeze ups or burst pipes.

Again, check with your friends and neighbors, especially the elderly and infirm to ensure they are safe.

In case of emergency contact the BCVFD at 718-474-8888 or dial 911.
