On Tuesday, a home builders group in St. Tammany Parish heard a presentation about the Biggert-Waters Act and how the new flood insurance law is affecting communities across south Louisiana. But the new law's impact is far-reaching and goes well beyond Louisiana's borders.
Here's a recent story from a San Francisco-based writer on the law's effects in California.
And here's one from a New Jersey publication examining some of the law's effects along the Jersey Shore.
Not everyone has come out against Biggert-Waters, though.
The Wall Street Journal opined recently that the changes in the National Flood Insurance Program should not be delayed or derailed. (Sorry, the site has a paywall.). That prompted a quick response from some in Louisiana's Congressional delegation.
