Dear Neighbor,

I am proud to announce the NY Daily News has enthusiastically endorsed the complete restoration of the Rockaway Beach Rail Line. Read more at: Rails before trails in Queens

This is another huge step in making our dream a reality. Last week I announced a partnership with the Queens College Urban Studies Department to conduct a comprehensive and objective study of the Rockaway Beach Rail Line and I will continue to fight until the line is fully restored and our communities have the transportation we need.

Stay Strong,

Rockaway Waste Treatment Plant to Mitigate Odor
Last month I toured the Rockaway Wastewater Treatment Plant after receiving countless complaints from residents. I am proud to report that DEP has initiated a plan to contain and minimize the odor. After completing a full assessment, it was determined that the primary tank effluent launders and the aerator influent distribution channel were the most odorous locations and DEP has already issued a contract to cover those areas! They are targeting May 30th to have this work complete.
Workforce1 Coming to Far Rockaway Library
I am excited to welcome the Workforce1 Career Center to the Far Rockaway Library. This service provided by the NYC Department of Small Business Services will prepare and connect qualified candidates to job opportunities in Southern Queens and the Rockaways. The new center will have a tremendous impact on our economy and allow our families to move forward with recovery after Sandy.
