Am I Missing Something Here?

This morning I reviewed the approximately forty most recent postings regarding the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act on this site and it suddenly dawned on me that, although there is no shortage of articles being written about this issue, they are not being written by or published by our metropolitan area major media outlets.

As far as print media goes, the New York Times obviously doesn't consider this issue as a priority nor do the remaining large metropolitan newspapers (i.e., NY Post, NY Daily News, etc.).

Metro area news television sources such as NY1 (Yes,I know, now it's Time Warner NY1), Fox 5, Pix 11, CW, etc., never mention it.

The two metro area radio news stations (WCBS 880 and 1010 WINS) do not cover this issue.

The only print media sources actively following this issue are our local newspapers, thanks primarily to Kevin Boyle of and The WAVE and Anna Gustafson of the Queens Forum.

Almost all of my returned searched sources regarding articles related to Biggert-Waters originate from other states - Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, etc., almost never from our metropolitan area!

The regulations mandated by Biggert-Waters and the accompanying exorbitantly expensive requirement of raising our houses in lieu of ridiculously high flood insurance premiums, if left unchecked, can easily undo all the hard work expended thus far by our town and endanger the future viability of our community.

Where the hell is the coverage of this issue and our ongoing struggle to forestall and amend this punitive legislation by our so called main stream media here in New York City?  They should be all over this story!

In line with the old news adage,"If it bleeds it leads", it is almost as if the New York mainstream media has decided that the "bleeding" part of Super Storm Sandy is now well past and not worth following up on anymore. Truth be told, unless something is done to fix this law, Biggert-Waters may prove to be the knockout punch that puts us all on the mat well past the mandatory 10 count!

Are they all sitting back and waiting until Howard Beach, Broad Channel, Rockaway, Belle Harbor, Neponsit and Breezy Point all become foreclosure ghost towns, the new East Coast Detroit?

Am I missing something here?

This has been the sin of omission by mainstream media. Is there another agenda at work?
