Possible Thanksgiving Week Nor'Easter [Initial Advisory]

In addition to the local temperatures taking a dramatic drop starting this evening it looks like there is a possibility of a potential storm impacting our area Thanksgiving week on Wednesday.

It's appears to be coming together as a pretty typical Nor'easter as the storm system starts organizing over the next few days.

It will start out by bringing some significant weather to parts of the South and Southwest during the next couple of days. A low pressure area will then develop in or near the Gulf of Mexico, possibly bringing some severe weather to the northern Gulf coast. As per usual, the system will begin to strengthen in the Southeast and pick up moisture from the Gulf.

That's where things start to get interesting for us as most of the model data available tends to indicate this storm will turn north and strengthen, moving up the East Coast.

The question then becomes what exactly the track of the low will be - inland, slightly offshore, well offshore or (hopefully) simply out to sea.

Worst case scenario at this time? - Rain is the most likely form of precipitation for our area with the air simply being too warm and the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean exerting its influence.

That being said, it is still 5 days out and the exact formation, strength and track of this storm is far from definite as is the final position of the incoming arctic air mass that will ultimately guide the storm.

At this time, I would not worry too much about having to rearrange any travel plans due to flight delays and disruptions but that may change and we will keep you updated.
