Thankfully, this week's snowstorm was nothing like our recent Christmas Weekend Blizzard.
JFK Airport recorded a total of 6.1 inches of the white stuff on the ground over the Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning period of snowfall.
Luckily (for us), the system moved quickly by us and did not stall until much further up the coast, thus avoiding much higher accumulations like Eastern Nassau and Suffolk Counties and Connecticut which saw 15 or more inches on the ground.
Weather wise, we are in the "Dead of Winter" which is usually cosidered the period between January 10th and February 10th, when normal temperatures for our area are at their lowest.
Weather patterns are still seeing storms coming in across West coast and some of them may traverse the country and ultimately impact us here on the East Coast.
Gasoline prices are once again going through the roof (The Mobil Station in Rockaway is selling regular at $3.49 a gallon today!), a barrel of oil is nearing $100 and home heating oil is also terribly expensive.
I don't know about you but I am longing for the warm sunny days of July and August sitting on the back deck with a cold refreshment in my hand complaning about the high tides!
