NWS Weather Summary

Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
400 AM EDT Fri Aug 3 2018

Bermuda high pressure will continue to influence the region into
the beginning of the weekend with a tropical-like airmass in
place. Showers and thunderstorms are possible today with the best
chances north and west of New York City. Highs will be in the
middle and upper 80s with muggy conditions continuing.

Showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread tonight into
Saturday as a weak frontal boundary moves into the region.
Temperatures may only rise into the upper 70s and lower 80s east
of New York City due to clouds and precipitation with highs in
the upper 70s and lower 80s. Further west, some sunshine is
possible in the afternoon leading to highs in the middle 80s.

With plenty of moisture available, any storms could contain heavy
rainfall. This could lead to localized flooding of poor drainage
and low lying areas, especially in places that see multiple rounds
of storms.
