De Balsio's Heart is Truly Past Shame

Police Officer Miosotis Famila was assassinated as she sat in her police vehicle in the Bronx during the early morning hours of July 5th. Familia, a mother of three was the first female New York Police Department officer killed in the line of duty since the Sept. 11 attacks and only the third female officer killed in a combat-type encounter in the department’s history.

As the citizens of New York were reeling from the execution style killing of yet another of their Police Officers, our Mayor quietly skipped town only a few hours after a quick press release announcing a planned trip to Germany later that evening to protest along with other progressive activists at the "Hamburg Shows Attitude" rally against the recent G-20 summit in that city.

Organizers of the “Hamburg Shows Attitude” protest said the New York mayor was invited to be the keynote speaker because of his political views that contradict Trump’s nationalist policies. De Blasio himself stated that Americans’ views don’t align with President Trump’s and need to be represented abroad.  By the way, De Blasio's progressive anti-globalization activist friends laid waste to portions of Hamburg over a period of three nights of rioting.

While Police continued to mourn the loss of one of their own, De Blasio's trip to the "Hamburg Shows Attitude" protest meant he skipped the vigil being held for Officer Familia in the Bronx as well as an NYPD swearing-in ceremony made somber by the assassination of NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia. De Blasio returned to NY Sunday and stated he would be attending Officer Familia's funeral this past Tuesday.  Hizzoner’s overseas jaunt was paid for by the rally’s organizers - as was the tab for three City Hall staffers with him.  The mayor also made sure the free trip  included a visit with his son, Dante,  a student at Yale University spending the summer on an internship in Berlin.

The police, as well as many members of the public, widely believe that De Blasio's apparent antipathy for police started festering back in when, after the controversial grand jury rulings in the Eric Garner and Michael Brown cases back in 2014, our Mayor let it be known that he had to “train” his biracial son about the “dangers” he faced on a day to day basis by New York City cops.  Additionally, De Blasio, unlike his Police Commissioner or Governor Cuomo, recently saw nothing wrong with participating in the 2017 Puerto Rico Day Parade along with convicted FALN terrorist Oscar Lopez Rivera who shared a parade float with Melissa Mark Viverito, our uber liberal progressive City Council President.

I sincerely hope the Mayor enjoyed his visit with his son in Berlin but I urge him to never forget that his foray into riotous global liberal progressive protest in Germany came at the expense of Police Officer Familia who will not be visiting with any of her three children ever again! Bill de Blasio's continuing lack of common sense and ensuing insensitivity to those he (supposedly) serves is being exacerbated his vision of himself as a rising leader of the progressive left whose agendas and priorities are far from those of regular New Yorkers and can only lead us to believe that our un-civil servant Mayor is quite comfortable in his own skin believing that his priorities are more valuable than ours, all of which causes me to worry that our city is past hope because it is quite obvious that our Mayor's heart is truly past shame!

Broad Channel, why would anyone want to live anywhere else?
