PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!
On the morning after last week's general election while the rest of the country (some sad, some happy) got out of bed and went to work, pathos devolved into absurdity on many college campuses when university administrators .decided to treat their student populations more like kindergarten students rather than undergraduates attending institutions of higher learning as the reality of the election of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States set in.
I also want to send a special "shout out" to all those self important and politically correct Hollywood and other celebrities who thought they had their fingers on the pulse of America and could help sway the election with empty threats to leave the country States if Donald Trump won. To put it bluntly, nobody cared!
By the way, if the individual(s) who removed the "Trump - Pence 2016" banner hanging across Cross Bay Boulevard by the 17th Road Park on election day thought they were making a political statement, they should know that their act of vandalism did not go unnoticed as it was quite the topic of discussion among the residents of Broad Channel as they traveled to P.S. 47 to cast their votes where, I have been told, 80% of which went to Donald Trump.
To our democrat friends who are discomfited by the awkward situation of having their hopes of retaining the Presidency dashed, they would do well to heed the advice of two of their more well known colleagues regarding their democrat victories - New York Senator William L. Marcy who stated way back in 1828 "To the victor belongs the spoils..." and more currently, our very own President Barack Obama who stated "Elections have consequences and at the end of day, I won!" while lecturing House Republican Whip Eric Cantor back in 2009.
In closing, I should tell you that when the Chicago Cubs won the World Series in Game 7 on November 2, just six days prior to the election it should have been clear to everyone that a win by Donald Trump was not all that implausible!
Broad Channel, why would anyone want to live anywhere else?
