Tucked away on the west side of the small town of Broad Channel in the middle of Jamiaca Bay is a narrow, dead end, street that goes by the name of West 12th Road. Those of us who live there know that the nice part about living in a small town is that when you are not quite sure what is going on, someone else always does!
[Peter J. Mahon West 12th Road, Broad Channel]
They really should have included East 12th Road in this project. It's only 100 extra feet, it floods with every moon tide as well. It would improve access to the Church Road homes out on the stilts and protect parked cars.
I really hope that East 14th Road and the stub of Channel Road are included in the future. The homes on Channel Road deserve the same protection. The corner of East 14th and Channel Road is underwater 4-5 times a month.
As a whole, the DOT should modify all Broad Channel Streets to the shared street design. We are already doing it by parking on the sidewalks...
