Broad Channel Historical Day - Sunday , October 16th

Come relive Broad Channel’s history at the neighborhood’s historical society’s event on Oct. 16, when artifacts, pictures, newspaper articles, documents, and letters will be on display at the VFW Hall on Shad Creek Road from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be historical items such as this photo of the old welcome sign painted by Mary Mundy.

Those living, or those who have lived, in Broad Channel are invited to bring written memories of the island to the event, which will be copied and returned to the donors.

At the event, attendees can buy copies of the 2017 Historical Calendar — which will give times for high tide throughout the year — and “Broad Channel Through Time” by Dan Guarino, as well as “Old Salt” by Mary Dady Clarity — the story of a Broad Channel native’s time in the U.S. Navy.
