According to sources close to the business the store has been getting ready to close after Friday, Feb. 26, and would undergo a two week renovation. By Saturday, the shop’s windows were covered in large sheets of brown paper.
.After renovations the store will reopen under ‘new’ management. Having sold Rock N Roll Bagel several years ago, former owner Robert Pisani has bought it back and will be running it again.
Situated just off the Cross Bay Bridge toll plaza, the eatery also serves full breakfasts, soups, salads, snacks, beverages, sandwiches and burgers. On the well-traveled Cross Bay Boulevard between East 20th Streetand Van Brunt Road, it benefited from a prime location, easy parking, a strong carry away trade, tables inside and café seating outside
Recently customers had noted that display cases were looking emptier as items were not being restocked. On Thursday morning, Feb. 25, several coffee machines were turned off and other items were not available. The staff explained that this, however, was in preparation for the temporary closure and makeover.
Residents had noted the once robust business seemed to be dwindling in recent times and was even closing earlier. Community members feared it might close altogether.
‘Rob’ Pisani originally started Rock N Roll Bagel with partner Robert Steiner. With partners, he also owns the expanded All-American Channel Market in Broad Channel, Rocco’s Pizzeria, the soon to reopen Bay View Restaurant, all in Broad Channel, and All American Bagel & Barista in Howard Beach.
