West 13th Road Water Service Shut Down Cancelled - Again!

The Water Shut Down previously re-scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016, on West 13th Road has been cancelled.

Many residents of West 13th Road have inquired as to what has been going on in this regard as several previously issued Water Shut Down Advisories have also been cancelled immediately after issuance causing not insignificant inconvenience to the residents of that street.

I have been advised that the Contractor working on the Broad Channel Reconstruction Project (Capital Project #HWQ1182A) has no control over this issue as the scheduling and subsequent cancellation of these temporary water service disruptions is the responsibility of the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC)  which is overseeing this project.

Interestingly enough, I have also been advised that at this time the city has placed all city wide scheduled temporary water service disruptions "on hold" for reason(s) not specified by the DDC.

In any event, I have requested that the contractor convey a request to DDC that no further Water Shut Downs for area in Brad Channel be scheduled until such time as they are able to get all their "management ducks" in order to ensure that another last minute cancellation of a scheduled service disruption is precluded.

I have also advised Dan Mundy Jr., President of the Broad Channel Civic Association of this issue in order that he may keep the Office of the Queen Borough President apprised of what is happening.
