Monitor fuel status of your outside oil tank from the comfort of your home

I have received several inquiries regarding the Beckett Wireless Fuel Level Monitor I have mentioned from time to time on this site and, to save time, I thought I would provide everyone with an overview of the system here.

The Beckett Rocket 17000 system is an electronic gauge that accurately and reliably measures the fuel level in your oil tank and transmits that information to a wireless receiver located in a convenient place in your home.  The system itself consists solely of a rocket shaped fuel level sensor and transmitter which is affixed to the top of my oil tank which is located outside the home and continually transmits the tank's fuel level status to a receiver which is plugged into an electrical outlet on my kitchen counter. The transmitter is powered by a lithium battery (included) which can last upwards of 10 years and can be easily replaced.

The above picture is the receiver we have mounted on our kitchen counter on W12thRd.  We just filled our fuel oil tank earlier today and the system is now correctly registering the tank's status as FULL.

I have had the system for some 4 years now and it has operated without any problems.  As my (post-Sandy) outside oil tank is totally enclosed and affixed to a raised concrete pad, this system  avoids me from having to get a ladder and then climb up to open the top of the tank's enclosure in order to view a manual float gauge on the top of the tank..

The gauge also provides a visual alert (red light) when your tank is getting low (below one quarter) and then an audible alert when you are about to run empty but the convenience of having the gauge within the house where it is easily viewed on a daily basis allows you to schedule a fuel drop long before those sort of problems develop.

If you ever had to to schlep outside at night with a flashlight in inclement weather to manually check the status of you oil tank, you will really appreciate this device. It also provides you the means of quickly verifying that you have received the total amount of fuel oil paid for.

Despite its name, installation of the Beckett Rocket fuel gauge system is not rocket science.  I managed to install it and have it up and running in about 20 minutes and I am the walking-talking confirmation of the old adage, "If he can do it, anyone can."

The system costs approximately $120 and, in my estimation, has been worth every penny we spent for it.

I hope the above answers all of your questions.
