BCAC Children’s Scavenger Hunt contestants take the field. It was an amazing day at the Broad Channel Athletic Club Memorial Field as young contestants lined up for the BCAC’s Amazing Race and Children’s Scavenger Hunt.
Fifty-nine youngsters signed up for the two events. Thirty-one kids, aged 11 and younger, came out for the scavenger hunt. Twenty-eight contestants, between the ages of 12 and 16, formed up in teams of two for the race.
The Amazing Race took them all over island in a contest that included everything from running an obstacle course to correctly identifying 15 states on a map and putting Broad Channel events in chronological order.
The Children’s Scavenger Hunt participants kicked off their shoes and raced around the field searching for a variety of cleverly hidden items, such as a paper clip, a green crayon, a blue rubber band and a plastic spoon.

Each year groups and individuals vie to see who can raise the most funds for a non-profit community organization, alternating in recent years between the BCAC and the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department.
Ready, set….kick off your shoes and go!
