Goldfeder: We fully support the NYPD

Queens, NY – As families in Queens continue to mourn the tragic loss of two NYPD officers in a horrendous attack last weekend, Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder (D – Rockaway) organized a campaign to make and distribute small blue ribbons to local community groups to wear and larger ribbons to place on telephone poles and in other public areas as a show of overwhelming support for the police department.

“By putting these ribbons up in the community, we’re showing our men and women of the NYPD that families in southern Queens and Rockaway overwhelmingly support our police and appreciate everything they do to keep us safe,” said Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder. “This is the least we could do for our city’s heroes in blue.”

Following the senseless murders of two police officers in Brooklyn last week at the hands of a deranged killer, Assemblyman Goldfeder responded by organizing a campaign out of his office to make and distribute small blue ribbons to mourn the loss of these two fallen heroes and to show support for the police in the face of anti-police demonstrations in the city. The Assemblyman also reached out to local community leaders, who agreed to make and distribute the ribbons as well. So far, hundreds of ribbons have been made and hung throughout the community.

“I encourage everyone to help show our local NYPD officers that we support them now more than ever,”concluded Goldfeder.
