Broad Channel youth spuce up garden at "A" Train station

BC Kids Wage War On Weeds

On Thursday, Oct. 16, more than 30 members of Boy Scout Troop 282, Cub Scout Pack 282, the Girl Scouts and otherBroad Channel children did a terrific job pulling weeds, removing litter at the Broad Channel subway station garden at the end of Noel Road.
They also planted 50 daffodil bulbs.
In 1991 the Broad Channel Civic Association “adopted” the subway station garden. In 2012, Hurricane Sandy practically destroyed the garden. However, thanks to the support of Metropolitan Transit Authority and efforts of community volunteers, a new wall and new plants and trees were provided.

The children’s efforts gave the garden a much needed sprucing up.
